The Bayerische Motoren Werke GmbH (BMW) was created in 1917 from the Rapp Motor Werke GmbH. 1918 converted the owner the company into a corporation to the engine and 1922, the company name and the trademark BMW which was founded in 1916 Bayerische Flugzeugwerke AG was transferred.
